Walks in the Ashcombe Estate are a popular thing to do. Public enjoyment of our countryside has always been a fundamental estate principle.
The Estate offers a number of Permissive Access walking areas. ‘Permissive Access’ means that members of the public are permitted by the Estate to walk in certain areas or footpaths within our privately owned land. Access is offered at ‘own risk’.
Walks in Ashcombe permissive access areas:
Little Haldon Heath, an open moorland SSSI (Site of Special Scientific Interest). Paths only
The Ramblers Path connecting Oak Park Lane (public footpath) with the Forestry Commission woodland. Leading to the Obelisk and beyond.
Tower Plantation on woodland paths only
Long Lane – leading from Five Lanes and Dawlish to Westley Cross.
Forestry, farming and some estate outdoor activities are potentially dangerous. Please do not enter any other areas without specific permission. If there are signs up forbidding entrance, they are there for good reason!
