The Ashcombe Estate has a long history of charitable work. Brigadier and Lady Rayner started many of the charitable events and created the Village Hall itself, which is often the principal money-raising heart. This important
work has been carried on by subsequent generations.
The Village Clubhas raised and distributed over £100,000 in the last ten years. Given the small number of members and demographic, this is a remarkable achievement. The Village
Club is chaired by Estate owner Ralph Rayner and run by a committee of local volunteers.
The Estate has run
charity 4x4 off-road Ashcombe Scuffle events for many years, specifically to fund the repair and renewal of the Grade I listed
Ashcombe Parish Church. Approximately £30,000 raised has enabled important work to be completed and a new car park planned for the church.
Charity Fun Rides are an occasional event which brings hundreds of horses and riders to a circuit around the Estate. The course takes in fields, tracks and woodlands The next Fun Ride is on 18 September 2022.
Art Ashcombe is an occasional event showcasing the best of local artists. Sales of painting, sculptures and photographs generate a percentage for our charities. The last event in 2018 had a fantastic range of very high-standard
works of art exhibited in the Village Hall.
