The Estate has an outstanding sporting shoot. First laid out for driven shooting by the Earls of Lisburne in the late 1800's, with woods on the hilltops for optimum experience.
Regarded as among the best in the country, private groups, and roving syndicates make up the diverse clientele.
With rolling Devon hills from +900ft, the estate runs alongside the Haldon ridge, high ground east of Dartmoor. There are four valleys presenting high birds from the tops of wooded hills over grassland, plus some wooded drives.
Several of the drives are very challenging. Bag sizes are limited to sustainable levels with all dead game presented for shoot lunches, elevenses, or processed for restaurants and direct sales.
The shoot has various related benefits, employing over 30 people during the season and enabling the maintenance of non-commercial woodlands, planting of wild-bird seed crops and over-all countryside conservation and maintenance.
